Harbour are a super fast set of fingerless gloves ideal for a first project for knitting in the round. Using a combination of ribbing and moss stitch, they are really cute, warm and seriously quick. You will not have time to worry about getting second glove syndrome since you could have a pair of these in a couple of hours.
To fit one size: Adult
1 skein Mirasol Sulka Chunky shown in shade 222, Red Onion
12st / 20 rows = 10 cms (4 inches) in moss stitch
Knit and purl stitches
Instructions are provided in written format.
Using 7mm dpn’s cast on 21 stitches. Place marker and join in the round being careful not to twist.
Knit 4 rounds
Change to 8mm dpn’s
Rnd 1: *k1, p1, rep from * to end
Rnd 2: *p1, k1, rep from * to end
Rnds 1 – 2 make up the moss stitch pattern.
Rep rnds 1 – 2 until work measures 9 cms (3.5 inches) from cast on edge, ending after Rnd 2
Opening for the Thumb:
You will now work flat
Row 1: (k1, p1) ten times, k1, turn work
Row 2: (K1, p1) ten times, k1, turn work
Continue this way, working rows 1 – 2 flat until work measures 13 cms (5 inches) from cast on edge, ending after row 2
You will now rejoin for the rnd
Rnd 1: *k1, p1, rep from * to end. Rejoin in the rnd, ready for rnd 2
Rnd 2: *k1, p1, rep from * to end
Rep rnds 1 – 2 of top edging twice more
Knit 3 rnds
To Make Up
Weave in all loose ends
Roll both ends of the glove to give it the curl. You may not need to do this manually depending on the yarn used.
