33 Cup Cosy
This is a sweet little cup cosy which can be knitted until it fits your favourite mug. The cable pattern is so simple yet elegant and creates a dense fabric, perfect for keeping your cuppa warm (and not burn your hands!)
Sizes to fit: Average width mug
Stylecraft Life Chunky, shade 2301 Rose, approx 30m (32yrds)
26st / 30 rows = 10 cms (4 inches) in cable pattern, 5mm needles
Knit and purl stitches
Instructions are provided in written format.
C2B = slip the next two stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the back of your work. Knit the next two stitches, and then knit the 2 sts from your cable needle.
C2F = slip the next two stitches onto a cable needle and hold in front of your work. Knit the next two stitches, and then knit the 2 sts from your cable needle.
Using 5mm straight needles, cast on 16sts.
Row 1 (RS): k4, c2b, c2f, k4
Row 2: k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2
Row 3: k2, c2b, k4, c2f, k2
Row 4: k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2
Repeat rows 1 – 4 until work measures approx 10 inches (25.5 cms) from cast on edge, ending on row 4.
Work rows 1 and 2 once more.
Working with the cast off edge, pick up 3sts along one side of the bottom of the V made by the first cable.
Working with those 3 sts, make an i-cord which measures 7.5 cms (3 inches).
To Make Up:
Weave in loose ends.
Attach your i-cord in a loop to the other side of your cabled V.
Sew a button of your choice in place on the opposite side from the cosy.
